I’m still holding on
You’re rushing in, when I feel alone
Oh Lord I know You hear me when I call
Your hope and strength restore my joy
When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:17–18
Have you ever felt distant from the people you love? Could it be that you’re physically far from them or having a relational gap? At some point, we have all felt distant, and it’s a very sour feeling. Feeling far away from family and friends is hard. When we cry out for help, we feel like no one hears us.
In times like these, who do we turn to? What do we do? The word of the Lord says in Psalm 34 that whenever we cry out, the Lord hears our concerns. Our God is a Father who listens to our cries, disappointments, anger, frustration, and everything we are feeling. He is always close to us. He will never leave us nor forsake us.
It is normal for us to feel discouraged about things that bring us down. But the most important thing is that we should know who to turn to. We can give all our cares and worries to God because only He can carry them. In exchange, He gives us new strength and restores our joy.
This access was made possible through Jesus Christ when He lived a life we should have lived and died the death we should have died. His resurrection sealed all of this. We can now claim salvation from sin, healing from sickness, freedom from anxiety and loneliness, and even victory over death. He holds everything together (Colossians 1:17), including our relationships with our family and friends. He is always close to us. This is the truth we can always be confident about.
1. Are there things in your life that need to be restored? Could it be a relationship, your career, or passion? Surrender these things to God and ask for His healing and restoration to take over.
2. In your own private time with the Lord, bring your cries to Him. Declare these Scriptures aloud and hold on to them: Psalm 34:17–18; Psalm 145: 17–19.
