Yahweh Song Devo | Week 1

Lyrics

Dumaan man ako sa libis ng kamatayan

Takot ay walang lugar sa pusong may tiwala

Ikaw ang aking tagapag-ligtas

Ikaw sa akin ang lahat-lahat.

Verse

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4

Word

2020 was a very tough year for the whole world. It felt like a long night, traveling through a long dark valley. Suddenly, we were stripped of all our possible sources of comfort and security. Many people suffered at different levels, and we all wondered when this would end.

Some of us feel like we’re already out of the valley, and we praise God for that. But some are still in their valleys. Psalm 23:4 encourages us that our God leads us in the valleys. He is with us and will lead us through.

Even though we walk through the darkest and longest of valleys, we can take heart because He is with us. His rod (His protection and discipline) and staff (the counsel of His word, wisdom, and direction) will give us comfort. As we walk through the valley, remember that Jesus our Shepherd laid down His life for His sheep. He walked through the deepest valley alone for you and I so that, in the end, we will never walk alone. He is our all in all, our treasure, and our reward.

Let us continue to look to Him, trusting and obeying that He is good and His love endures forever. The good shepherd will lead us home.

Application

1. What have you learned about God as you walk through your own valley?

2. What areas of life do you think you need to allow Him to lead you?
